What I want to share with you today is a very popular App - TikTok. I mainly tell you about the actual development and current situation of TikTok in the United States through several sets of data I found on the Internet.
Some people actually have no way to download this application. I use
YiLu proxy to solve the IP proxy problem. The static IP of American residences extracted in YiLu Proxy is stable and smooth. If you are interested, you can try it.
Today we mainly want to use some data to look at the rocket-like development trajectory of TikTok in the United States. First of all, the first data is about user growth. TikTok is currently one of the fastest-growing social media applications in the United States. In 2018, TikTok had approximately 18.8 million users in the US and was the most downloaded app in the US in October 2018. It is also the first Chinese app to achieve this feat. In 2019, that number soared to 37.2 million. By 2023, it will reach 1.5 billion users.
Let's look at the second data next, which is about the growth rate of user engagement on social platforms in the United States. From 2017 to September 2019, U.S. user engagement on Facebook dropped 26% from 2017. Instagram grew 6% over the period. And Twitter, which we are more familiar with, also increased by 13%. Guess how much TikTok has grown? TikTok’s user interaction during this period increased by 1533%, making it the biggest winner. Of course, we should also consider that other platforms like Facebook and ins are very mature platforms. However, we can still see the extremely fast development of TikTok in the United States.
Let's look at the data on downloads next. TikTok is currently one of the most downloaded non-game apps in the world, and it is also one of the most downloaded entertainment apps in the Apple store. TikTok generated more than 738 million downloads in 2019, a 13% increase from 655 million in 2018. From a global perspective, the United States is still the country with the largest number of TikTok downloads, far ahead of the second-placed United Kingdom.
Then we know from the above three sets of data that TikTok is developing very fast, with a wide range of influence, high user activity, and great room for development in the future.
Then let's discuss why this application has high value, and what is its user group like? Then where is the quality of these users?
First, let’s take a look at the proportion of TikTok users in the United States by age group in 2020. As of January 2020, young users aged 10 to 19 are the largest number of users, accounting for 37.2% of all active users of TikTok in the United States. Users between the ages of 20 and 29 are the second largest user group, accounting for 26.3%. Users aged 30 to 39 accounted for 16.7%. The least is 40 to 50 years old, accounting for about 19%.
The largest group of users is from 10 to 29 years old, including the so-called Generation Z and the millennials in the United States. They are also the most active sharers on the Internet. Generation Z refers to those born between the mid-1990s and 2000s. Millennials then refer to those born between 1982 and 2000. The population proportion of Generation Z is very high, accounting for 1/4 of the total population of the United States, and they are expected to become the most influential shopping group in the world.
What types of content do these major users like to share most on TikTok?
Number one is some travel experiences. The second is some interesting videos of imitating others that are popular among Chinese people on Douyin. The third is to share something that you are going through or what is happening. Others are to share some products or photos of themselves and so on.
